The People & Culture, Country Leader for Japan, will be a key member of the Japan Leadership Team, responsible for driving the HR strategy and ensuring alignment with both regional and global objectives. Reporting directly to the Director, HR APAC, this role will lead the HR function in Japan, supporting business growth and transformation initiatives, while fostering a culture of high performance and employee engagement. This position will also manage a team member who supports HR operations in Japan.
This position requires a seasoned HR professional with a proven track record of navigating complex, fast-paced environments and excelling in matrixed, multinational organisations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive HR Generalist experience, ideally with over 10 years in the field, and a strong foundation in employee relations (ER) and industrial relations (IR). Demonstrated success in driving innovative initiatives or change management projects that deliver sustainable business impact is highly desirable. Strong business and commercial acumen, coupled with exceptional communication skills in both Japanese and English (written and spoken), are essential. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, flexibility, and agility to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to critical business demands. Experience working across international boundaries and engaging with diverse teams is a significant advantage.
