The Director of Talent is responsible for instituting, carrying out, and continually improving all systems and practices that impact organisational health at the school: recruitment and hiring, people development and retention. During initial years of the role, a major focus of the director is talent recruitment and selection. Based in Shenzhen, the director is a key member and strategic partner of the campus leadership team, and global talent team covering all aspects of people and talent management. As the Director of Talent you will need to build powerful relationships and add value to the work carried out by campus leaders. You will be influential by building tools and systems that support the creation of an exceptional place to pursue science and art of teaching. This role ensures that all core HR functions – from benefits, to on-boarding, to employee relations – are delivered at a very high quality standard.
The successful role holder will have a good track record of both developing and executing strategy in contexts of high growth, ambiguity, and experienced interaction with both Western and Chinese professional cultures. Experience with cutting-edge practices in talent recruitment, development, and retention, ideally in a growing, entrepreneurial organisation is desirable. The role holder will have a keen analytical and problem-solving approach. They will be adept at creative problem-solving in areas where no precedents nor predetermined methodologies exist. The role holder will have the ability to lead effectively through building relationships, and through the power of persuasion and influence. They will have a proven track record of coaching leaders and building great teams. They will have a keen intellectual curiosity and mindset of continuous learning and growth as well as a sense of deep personal responsibility for the organisation’s success. Importantly, they will have a passion for education. Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin Chinese are required.
