The Company

This is the parent company of the worlds largest MNC’s, it manufactures and supplies a wide range of products in the industrial sector. Operating under several smaller brands in Australia this medium sized group of companies, with a combined workforce of approximately 200, will be integrated to leverage the broader capabilities more effectively and to restructure the organisation ready for growth. The business is earmarked for acquisitions and is expected to grow into a significant market leader. It has manufacturing and facilities in QLD, VIC and NSW, a dispersed management team and predominately blue-collar workforce. The HRBP will be based at facilities located in Western Sydney. In Australia the company will leverage the global capability including innovative products and be powered by an entrepreneurial spirit that comes from the foundational businesses and group.

The Role

The Human Resources Business Partner, Australia, will report directly to the Managing Director and have a dotted functional line offshore. The role is effectively an individual contributor as is the first HR Leader appointed to the business. In the future there will be scope to build a team however, at the moment, HR services are delivered through a consultant, external partners, and internal clerical assistance. This is a strategic HRBP who will review the People & Culture requirements to build and deliver on the ambitions business plans of the business. Working in close partnership with the MD and with her management team it will have responsibility for end-to-end HR. Priorities will include coaching and supporting the leadership to expand the business. Future acquisitions will potentially help to optimise policies and frameworks however meanwhile they will need to be built. The role will draw on all generalist experience and exposure to employee relations preparing for growth, driving cultural change and organisational transformation. It will require a strong leader of people and process regardless of the number of years of experience. This is a phenomenal opportunity for a generalist HRBP to grow and expand a business working with an exceptional MD as part of a greater global business.  

The Individual

The ideal industry background includes exposure to industrial sectors or manufacturing plants or experience working with blue collar employees. It would be an advantage if you have come from high growth and an innovative organisation. True success will be linked to your HR leadership drive and style including ability to be consultative and engaging, quickly establishing credibility to partner, influence and support a significantly expanding enterprise. You will need to have the capability to support and be a trusted advisor to the MD and management teams. In the role you will draw on your full suite of generalist skills including Talent Management and Organisational development, compensation and benefits, learning and development, talent acquisition and retention, change management and employment relations. You will be expected to be hands on with the business building relationships with employees across the manufacturing sites. Based in Western Sydney, travel will be required interstate to establish and maintain relationships. It will take energy and drive in the early days however the satisfaction and rewards will come as the legacy is built and the full potential of the business is realised. As such, you will bring a high level of energy, no nonsense communication style, and decisiveness with the willingness to work hard and to build a business.
