China HR Leaders Meet to Discuss 'Leadership Matters' in Shanghai

Hosted by: Standard Chartered Bank

The Chapman Consulting Group was in Shanghai last week to co-host a lively presentation with Organisation Solutions on “How does Leadership Matter?” The session was designed to help senior HR Leaders in China connect current research with experience on people and organisation practice. The goal was to help HR Leaders encourage stronger business leadership in their companies and also, from a personal perspective, to help them become better HR Leaders and to manage their own HR teams.

The presentation, which was hosted at Standard Chartered Bank’s China headquarters, was attended by 14 China Heads of Talent and Heads of HR from multinational companies including Coca Cola, Chartis, Nielsen, Standard Chartered Bank, Carrier, UPS, Baxter International, and Royal Sun Alliance.

During the two hour session, Alison Eyring, CEO of Organisation Solutions, led an interactive discussion with participants on :

  • What is leadership?
  • The impact of Leaders on Individual, Team and Company Performance.
  • Is One Type of Leadership Better than Another?
  • Do Competency Systems Matter?
  • How Can HR Best Integrate these Learnings to Improve Leadership?

Participants found the discussion very thought-provoking, delving into the truths around successful and unsuccessful examples of leadership. The session concluded with eight strategies on how HR could help encourage stronger leadership in organisations.

The Chapman Consulting Group, in conjunction with Organisation Solutions, will continue discussions on HR and Business Leadership strategies for our HR Leader alumni in Hong Kong in October 2010 and Mumbai in November 2010. These sessions will be attended by Heads of HR and Heads of Talent in both of these locations, by invitation only.
