2010 Quarter 4 HR Salaries Remain Strong, But No Higher Than Q3 2010
Quarter Four 2010 HR salaries across Asia Pacific Japan showed little or no increase across Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. "It's not uncommon to see few increments in quarter four", said Oscar Fuchs, Associate Director and Head of the Japan HR Practice at The Chapman Consulting Group. "In 2010, we've seen an aggressive movement upwards in salaries, perhaps 12-15% on average in some buoyant markets like Singapore and Hong Kong, and more like 15-20% in India and China. Budgets were tightened in the final quarter of the year and there were also fewer job movements, due to bonuses just around the corner".
Fuchs said that The Chapman Consulting Group expected to see the numbers start to climb again in late Quarter One, 2011 and Quarter Two should see steep growth, once bonuses are paid and movements begin again.
The Chapman Consulting Group publishes an HR salary report each quarter covering the principal markets of the Asia Pacific Japan region. This report is based on discussions with HR practitioners across the region during the months of November and December 2010.
