Our client is a FTSE 250 multinational focused on engineering. Revenues have been incrementally increasing particularly in emerging markets. The business has recently changed the CEO and CHRO and as such are transforming the fundamentals of HR to create a more progressive and business aligned function.
This role will likely be based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but could be based in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil or Panama City, Panama. The organisation is building a progressive HR function globally and this is an opportunity for an internationally minded HR leader who can help drive a more business aligned HR offering. LATAM has significant potential as a region and despite a reduction in the overall population recently there is scope to drive increased profitability and growth in a highly competitive landscape. From an HR perspective the team needs to be further streamlined and shaped to optimise performance. At present the role will lead a team of 20-25 people spread across the region. The main hubs are Brazil and Argentina, but there is also HR support in the Caribbean, Venezuela, Chile, Panama and other smaller locations. The successful candidate will need to galvanise and develop the team and improve performance. They will need to build capability towards a more commercial, data-driven HR business partnering function. The position will partner closely with the LATAM Business Head and have a dotted reporting line to the Global Business Unit HR Leader. Due to a number of global standards and initiatives, this person will need to be able to balance the global needs of the function with individual demands at the local level.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced HR Lead/Business Partner with an ability to manage people across a complex region. Most likely they will currently be sitting in a multi-country HR leadership role in the LATAM region. However, for an exceptional Country HR Director in Argentina or Brazil this could be a potential step-up into a regional scope. In this scenario they will need to demonstrate runway, agility and experience of working across complex environments. Ideally, the person will have a blend of strategic business partnering with the ability to operationalise and deliver in a ‘brown fields’ HR environment. A ‘can-do’ and resourceful attitude will be important given the size of the team. They will be required to lead from the front. The candidate must be fluent in Spanish and English and have a clear and eloquent communication style. They will need to influence and build relationships with a multitude of both regional and international stakeholders so this is imperative. Culturally, they must be able to work with high levels of ambiguity and bring a pragmatic and agile attitude. They must possess commercial acumen and play well in an entrepreneurial environment.
Unless the advertisement specifies otherwise, only HR Professionals who are legally able to work in this country can be considered.
