Hong Kong Talent Acquisition Leaders Gather at Cisco

Hosted by: Cisco

The Chapman Consulting Group (ChapmanCG) co-hosted the 2nd Quarter Hong Kong Talent Acquisition Heads session at the offices of Cisco on Wednesday 19th June. The session was facilitated by Ben Davies, a Managing Director with ChapmanCG and by Paul Ferrari, a new Hong Kong based Director with ChapmanCG.

A broad mix of industries were represented in a vocal round table. There was plenty of best practice sharing and representatives from Avery Dennison, Shangri-la, Walmart, Bank of America Merril Lynch, UBS, Dell, BBVA, 3M, KPMG, Deloitte, Telstra, Flextronics and many more attended.

Keynote topics for discussion were vendor streamlining; learning from a regional efficiency drive and EVP innovation/best practice. The group exchanged ideas and key takeaways included:

  • When streamlining and downsizing the number of vendors a psl has, it must have some room for personalisation in Asia. This is particularly relevant in countries where talent is short and large recruitment firms are not as strong as their more developed markets.
  • Organisations who kept a ‘country decides’ model noted that it was important that the budget was run by the country as well. This was not an option for many other firms using regional or global frameworks.
  • EVP is being driven into, and subsequently being owned by HR and the recruitment function.
  • 80% of the companies who attended mentioned EVP definition, focus and projects were top of their agendas today.
  • Critical linkage in every part of the recruitment process was repeatedly agreed upon. In particular, recruitment partners identified the key factors as being; the time taken to turn around feedback for candidates, the quality of the feedback and how internal mobility/diversity is championed within the organisation.

The next Hong Kong Talent Acquisition leaders gathering will be later in the year.
