Human Resources Global Salary Report, January – March 2014

The Chapman Consulting Group tracks the base salaries of the Human Resources leadership roles that we place around the world on a quarterly basis. These figures should not be used to directly compare salaries from one geography to another, because the work that we do tends to be different depending on the market. For example, in Europe and the U.S. we tend to work on global HR roles with worldwide responsibilities; in a geography such as the U.A.E we tend to work on regional HR roles with multi-country responsibilities across the Middle East and Africa; and in a market such as Indonesia we tend to work on domestic HR roles that have countrywide responsibilities.

As we move into the second quarter of 2014, we notice a general upward trend in salary levels of our placements across the globe. As companies commit to achieving objectives in the New Year, this often includes investing in the right resources to drive these initiatives.

We have seen an increase in U.S. and European salary levels, possibly more due to the seniority of the roles we have placed in these geographies, as opposed to a real trend in salaries in these regions.

The Philippines shows a significant increase over last year, as we enjoy several successfully placed experienced roles in this location. Following this trend are Japan, Hong Kong, China and Australia where our placements have secured competitive salaries.

Salary levels for our placements in Latin America, South Africa, Indonesia and Taiwan have remained consistent with previous quarters, as companies remain vigilant around cost in emerging markets where doubts about continued growth remain in the spotlight. With cost optimisation and reduction receiving an increased focus, we have noticed some firms aiming to recruit internally or through social media channels.

We expect the job market will continue to stay strong through the rest of 2014. To view previous salary data, please visit http://chapmancg.com/news/hr-salaries.
