We are delighted to once again be working alongside a well renowned not for profit organization which is establishing a new Research Institute. This Institute is dedicated to translating findings from basic science into potential solutions that will improve the health and wellness of the world’s most vulnerable populations and fill the product pipeline for malaria, tuberculosis, and enteric and diarrheal diseases. It is committed to saving lives by improving the pace and predictability of translational medicine in global health. To support this journey, it is seeking a seasoned Head of Human Resources to work closely with both the Chief Business Officer and CEO. This role is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, the Head of Human Resources will serve as the primary interface and HR partnership for the Institute CEO, leadership team, and staff. The individual will design and implement all HR policies, processes, programs, and protocols of the Institute and play the lead role in developing and managing the people strategy to align with the business strategy and deliver against business needs. Key will be to build platforms to address recruiting needs, develop talent management, workforce planning and rewards strategies, and also foster a culture of urgency, collaboration, innovation and rigor. This will be an individual contributor role at the outset, and so it is expected that the chosen individual embraces an all action, all hands on deck approach and is an employee advocate and subject matter expert on employee relations.
This is truly a unique opportunity and the chosen candidate will need to bring to the table a myriad of technical and people skills. He/she will demonstrate experience partnering with senior executives through large-scale organization changes or significant start-ups, preferably in small to medium R&D medical, pharmaceutical, and/or biotech organizations. The individual will excel in ambiguity and embrace change and innovation at every turn. It is essential to build trust with all levels and demographics of employees and stakeholders, not just leadership. As there is a greenfield feel to this opportunity, it is expected that he/she possesses solid business acumen and financial fundamentals as well as broad HR capabilities at both strategic and tactical levels. This is an ideal opportunity for an HR leader looking to move into a purpose driven organization geared to making a noticeable impact at a global level.
