Completed United Arab Emirates, South Africa

The Company

An international award-winner in security services, our client employs 12,000 people globally and operates from over 1,000 (often remote) locations. Revenue sits well in excess of US$1 Billion dollars and operations are divided geographically into the six regions of US, Europe, EEMEA (East Europe, Middle East and Africa), Indonesia, Asia and Australia. Since its foundation the company has grown steadily through joint ventures and acquisitions.

The Role

A pivotal HR Directorship position has opened up as a support to a critical business unit, to be based in Dubai or Johannesburg. This is very much a strategic business partnering opportunity in a heavily-matrixed set-up. Demanding stakeholders will expect quick decisions to be made, often in urgent or crisis-style situations. This is a role for a front-footed sharp-thinker and strong communicator with excellent emotional intelligence.

The Individual

The appointment will require at least 10 years’ of broad, generalist HR experience, of which a major chunk must have been spent in supporting emerging markets, specifically those in the Middle East and Africa. Strong technical skills are absolutely expected but the crucial piece in the jigsaw will be the very specific cultural alignment. HR is still evolving at the organisation and there is a need for agility in helping shape its future. Systems need to be implemented and structure needs to be created.

Unless the advertisement specifies otherwise, only HR Professionals who are legally able to work in this country can be considered.

Potential upsides
This particular business unit carries great weight in terms of headcount and revenue so makes the role extremely visible. Very much a role for a strong leader to shine internally.
Potential downsides
The environment is fast-moving and will require someone who can navigate a certain degree of chaos, as the business and HR function continues to evolve.
